Yes, this error occurs whenever the SCSI driver does not match the SCSI
controller or when the SCSI controller itself has gone bad. In your case
the SCSI driver does not match the SCSI controller as you have mentioned
yourself and the solution is to install both drivers on the OS image.
Whichever one is not needed will not be used, and you may remove later, if
you were worried about having a 'clean' system.
