Another possibility is that the machine is actually stuck shutting down. If
you do reboot could you look in the system event logs to see if there was a
shutdown issued at the time it went blank. If there was no shutdown issued
then you want to check the power options and see if this repeats when they
kick in (although with a server you probably don't want anything except turn
monitor off set).
