Hi

I'm trying to figure out how to install Windows 2000 Server as a domain
controller following a guide on MS's site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/planning/server/serversteps.asp
When I follow the guide and select "This is the only server in my
network" in the configure wizard, I get the error: "Because one of more
other servers already exist, you cannot configure this server as the
only server on the network." So far, all I have are two PCs - one
running W2K server and one running W2K Pro - connected via a Netgear
DG834 ADSL router. I understand that the other server is the router,
which, according to ipconfig, seems to be the Default Gateway, DHCP
Server and DNS Server too.

My question is, how are the server and router supposed to work together?
Do I have DHCP on the router or the server? If W2K server has to have
DNS, how does this work alongside the DNS on the router?

Advice or links greatly appreciated.
Dave
