Policy continually re-assigns rights to system files and registry

Hi folks.
My company has a Windows 2000 AD with a lot of security policies in place.
The previous admin set the policies up in such a way that WinXP will scan the
system folders and certain registry entries during logon, and then re-apply
the pre-defined permissions to them.
Naturally, this makes the login process a really long one (10 minutes long).
I also heard that this does this several times a day - which means that the
admin placed applied this policy into the group policy.
I ran GPMC and verified that this is happening, but I have no clue as to how
I can modify these settings in the Group Policy editor. In the GPMC, the
report states that it is under
Computer Configuration
Windows Settings
Security Settings
File System
Registry
Any ideas where or how I can see these entries on the group Policy editor?
And does anyone know how I can make it execute once a month, rather at every
interval?
Any ideas are greatly appreciated!
