Windows XP Home, Windows XP Pro, Windows Server 2003, Windows 95, etc... All
are operating systems.

What makes a system a server is the job it does. There are a number of
Windows 95 servers out there. There are also Windows Server 2003
workstations that don't do any server work at all.

The reason for the different names is the services and capabilities that
come with the OS. Whether or not you choose to use them really defines
whether or not a machine is a server or not.
