Roger,
We had the same error message pop up for my customers when they were trying
to backup their local laptop hard drives to one of my servers using
NTBACKUP. It would only happen on full backups and not consistently. Turns
out the issue was not on the server but at the client. The clients Ethernet
cards had the speed and duplex settings set to Auto/Auto which means they
are supposed to negotiate the best speed and duplex setting with the switch.
Once we hard coded the clients to settings that were appropriate for them,
either 10/full or 100/full, the delayed write errors disappears. While I do
not know if this is your problem as well, it is something worth while to
check.
