IE will not be challenged with a username and password prompt if:

(1) one has not enabled NT Challenge / Response (Integrated Windows
Authentication-IWA) for the virtual directory of the web site and
(2) the user logged in to their Windows computer with the same Windows
account that is authorized to your web site and
(3) the user uses Internet Explorer (IE) to connect to your website and
(4) the user's IE is configured to submit credentials automatically for the
zone which your web site is in and
(5) IE is configured with IWA enabled and
(6) the connection between the user's computer and the IIS server is not
going through a proxy server

Note if all of the above is true then:

the user will not be prompted for credentials and they will be silently
authenticated and given access to the web site.

Hello,
We have a W2K server domain running AD. I added a Server 2003 machine and
promoted it using dcpromo. Now when anyone goes to our website, they are
prompted for a username and password. I believe this has to do with IIS, but
am not sure where to make the change so our page can be viewed without
asking
for credentials.
TIA
Eric
