There is a difference between pinging an IP address and pinging a NetBIOS
name and pinging a DNS name (FQDN=Fully Qualified Domain Name).
I would guess that your client can ping the server's IP address (locally)
but can't ping the server's NetBIOS or DNS name. This has to do with DNS
name registrations. I'm also guessing that since both computers are set for
DHCP, the DNS Server(s) listed when you type "IPCONFIG" in a command window
are the ISP's Servers.
You won't have a DNS Registration for your domain name in the ISP's DNS
Servers - this is a locally hosted internal domain (based on your use of
.LOCAL). Therefore, your client would need to point at (and register with)
your internal DNS service to be able to resolve your domain name.
