if you leave your exchange server open to relay, the spammers will find it
and send thousands of messages from your server to everyone and anyone. this
will cause your email server to be blocked by people like me who use 'dns
block lists' to prevent the spam we all get.
in effect, they will send a message, bounce it off your server to the
victim. this is bad.
search google and M$ to get configuration articles on setup to prevent
relay.
