We have recently purchased 5 new servers, two Dell
PowerEdge 1750's for primary and backup domain
controllers, two Dell PowerVault 745N's for storage, and
one Dell PowerEdge 2650 as an application server. These
are in place at a secondary school. We have around 1500+
users on a network, all servers are Windows Server 2003.
What we wanted to do was somehow mirror the two
PowerVault servers so that they shared the load and so
that if one goes down, the other will still be up.
I tried using DFS and file replication, but found that
the replication was too slow, not instant. So that if
two people were working on one folder, then if they got
put through to one server and the other user to the other
server, then they couldn't see recent files.
I was just wandering if anyone could help, as I'm sure
that I'm going about this in the wrong way.
Thanks, Alex.
