Presumably the message you see is "access denied". This
message is generated if your account has insufficient
priviliges to access the selected resource. You need to
check several things to identify the culprit:
- Did you get validated locally or by the domain?
- Did you set the share permissions correctly?
- Did you set the NTFS permissions correctly?
There is no point in arguing that things work for your
XP machines. If your access is denied then you have
a permissions issue (except when accessing administrative
shares, but this is a different issue).
