We have had 2 servers crash on our hands in the last 2 years, first a Win2000
server on a Hewlet Packard machine, and then a Win2003 Server also on a HP
machine, what happend to both machines was that when rebooted, they found no
boot files, boot partition was lost, (both have 2 scsci disks and hardware
raid controllers) We never found out what happened, so we had to reinstall
OS on both machines, we thought about this all the time, and finally found
out that we had connected a external USB hard drive to both machines prior to
crashes, we told some ppl about this and wondered if this could be the cause,
and then we found one guy who had the exact same problem with his HP server,
and he also had connected a USB external drive to his machine prior to crash,
So what I am warning you guys about is watch out for this... I have no idea
if it is hardware or software problem.. all I know Hewlet Packard has been
notified and hopefully they will look into this...
