Hello:
I've inherited a mess of a network and I have some questions about
licensing.
1. Is there any place in Administrative Tools or whatever that I can
see how many licenses have been purchased for these servers and
applications that are getting shared over the network?
2. The setup is like this: there are 2 servers, one running SBS 2003
and Exchange and the other is running SBS 2003 for sharing
applications via Terminal Server (I think). There are 20 users on
this network and about 8 to 10 are using dumb terms to get all of
their applications (Office, Internet, Great Plains, etc). Am I
correct in assuming that these dumb term users need a CAL for SBS
2003, a CAL for Terminal Services, a CAL for Exchange, a CAL for Great
Plains?
3. The other 8 users have actual PCs in their offices that are
running either Win2k Pro or XP Pro. So for them, all I need is a CAL
for SBS 2003, a CAL for Exchange, and a CAL for Great Plains? No CAL
is required for TS because XP or 2k takes care of that, correct?
4. The people that are on TS are all sharing Office 2003. I need a
CAL for each of them too to share Office?
Can someone also explain those MS Licensing CDs and what they are used
for? Also, if you order a CAL for say SBS 2003, does the vendor or MS
send you a paper CAL like how they used to? What type of
documentation is there now? Something on the servers somewhere?
Any assistance anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!
-Joe
