Hey guys! Just a few simple questions about upgrading our network to 2003.
We have 1 domain. I have 2 servers running 2000 sp4 in native mode acting as
our DC's with DHCP, DNS services on both machines. The 2 DC's are also setup
as global catalog servers. And another server running 2000 sp4 exchange sp4
in native mode. The rest of our servers are member servers running 2000 sp4,
not too concerned about these.
I plan on upgrading our DC with all the OP's master roles this weekend
first. Is there anything I should be aware of? From what I have read, it
seems pretty straight forward. Going from 2000 to 2003 isn't really that big
of a move.
Here was my thoughts:
1. Backup! Of course!
2. Check out MS's security updates and patches. Install them.
3. Make ERD.
4. Verify scsi drivers for raid card are good to go on 2003.
5. Reboot servers
6. Run Forest Prep
7. Run Domain Prep
8. Upgrade 2000.
We are just running Windows 2000 Standard, and Exchange 2000 Enterprise.
How does it look? Anything I'm missing?
I thought about shutting down all my servers and just leaving my 1 DC
running and bringing up 2 DC after the upgrade. I also thought about
shutting down all the workstations. Or is that unnecessary? Anything special
I should consider about Exchange?
Thanks guys for any insight!
Mike
