You don't have anything in the Event Log as to why it does not start?

If not, can you please include the complete error messages that you get.
Missing registry entries might help, if we know what it is about.

> Hello all, I recently had a catastrophic OS failure on my Windows/Exchange
2000 server and had to restore from tape. Most everything is back up and
functional again with Exchange and Windows except for my IM for Exchange. I
believe I have narrowed the problem down to the Intersite Messaging Service
in Windows 2000. This service will not come up anymore. It gives me an error
58 "Service could not start". I have looked all over the place for some sort
of article on how i can either reinstall this particular service or some
sort of fix, but can't find anything!! Can anyone help me out with this? It
also said something about missing registry entries if that helps. Thanks in
advance!!!
