I found 2 ways to accomplish the task. One go to recovery console and use
the cacls.exe to fix the file permissions, or install another windows 2000
os boot to it and fix the folder permissions. I did the second of the two
and it worked like a charm. Unfortunately the user that did this was one of
our programmers. It was an accident. She deleted the wrong permissions by
mistake. This particular server was not very important, but it was an
inconvenience. None of our basic users have access to the servers, and the
programmers only have access to the unimportant servers. We usually have
ghosts of our machines, but not this one. : ( Oh well. Another day
another lesson learned.
