microsoft.public.windows.server.general:

I'm a Win2003 newbie who is trying to migrate a workgroup
network with Win98, WinME, WinNT4 WS, and Win2k Pro
machines to Windows Server 2003. I built a Win2003 EE
server and chose the "First server" installation option,
which gave me DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, and Remote
Access/VPN. When I connected a Win2k Pro box to the new
server and logged in to the domain using my username
"dpchrist", it created a new folder on the Win2k box under
"C:\Documents and Settings" named "dpchrist.SMALLBUSINESS"
-- e.g. none of my user settings or data was migrated. I
was thinking of moving things around manually, but would
prefer a "proper" approach.

RTFM didn't give me any hits. STFM came up with an Active
Directory Migration Tool, User State Migration Tool, and
File and Settings Transfer Wizard, but none seem to be
quite what I'm looking for (seem to be for migrating
domain-based networks).

I'm sure this is a common scenario, but I can't seem to
find the right documents. Could someone please post the
right URL's and/or ISBN's?

TIA,

David
