Using command line ntbackup scripts. Monday night I run a full backup, which cascades to a second tape. This script is:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntbackup.exe backup "@C:\masks\test.bks" /n "Backup" /d "Full %dtt%" /v:yes /r:no /rs:no /hc:on /m normal /j "%dtt%" /l:f /p "Ecrix VXA-1" /UM
Labels the tapes "Backup", normal backup, using /UM switch.
Tuesday through Sunday nights I run the following script using the "overflow tape" from the full backup:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntbackup.exe backup "@C:\masks\incrementals.bks" /a /d "Incrementals %dtt%" /v:yes /r:no /rs:no /hc:on /m incremental /j "%dtt%" /l:f /t "Backups"
This script looks for a tape called Backups, and the appends the incremental jobs to it.
Now, if RSM is empty (meaning there is no offline media in the manager) this works perfectly. Full backup runs, prompts for new tape, and incrementals run great.
Problem is, the next Tuesday night incremental fails, because of a "non unique tape name". If I deallocate and remove all the offline media in RSM, works fine.
Is there a work around for this anyone? A way to deallocate all offline media in RSM after the Sunday night job?
Thanks
