Are the files opened by the accounting application on the local filesystem
or across a network share?

Hello All:
We are running Windows 2000 Server on a Domain Using Active Directory
Services.
Our accounting application closes its files when it is done using them.
Our problem is that Windows 2000 Server appears to be keeping the files
open even though the application issued a close command.
If a user runs the application, then exits entirely out of the
application, Computer management shows that data files from the application
are still left open from that users session. This behavior is repeated on
every application we have looked at.
We have to close the session from the server for the computer management
utility to close the files.
We turned OpLocks off as perscribed by the MSDN knowledgebase.
When we used Novell, the files were immediately closed. Why are they
left open under windows ??? Are they cached for speed ???
How can we stop files from being kept open ???
Any areas to look into ???
Thank you very much.
