Re: domain server responding to all invalid requests with outside IP.

What do you mean by the statement:
"A request from a computer that is joined to the domain to an invalid host will automatically return with the ip of 70.250.105.5"

This totally confuses me. How can a machine be joined to an invalid host?

You should post an ipconfig /all of your dc and a failing client.

This is an odd one... I have a 2k3 domain and all computers that are
joined to it automatically are redirected to the outside IP of the
network for invalid requests. For instance, the DC/DNS server will
have an internal IP of 10.1.1.10 and the outside IP will be
70.250.105.5 A request from a computer that is joined to the domain
to an invalid host will automatically return with the ip of
70.250.105.5 I just pinged asdfa (an invalid host) and it responded
with asdfa.acme.com and the outside IP. Also, if I take this computer
offsite with no connection to the domain network (VPN turned off), it
will still do the same thing. Now, computers not joined to the domain
but are in the office and use that DNS server will do the same thing,
but will be fine once they are outside the network. I double checked
against another DNS server and went through the settings and I don't
see anything different. Any thoughts?
