Strange DNS suffix behaviour

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I have a client running Windows XP SP2 which is a member of a domain.
hat domain has trust relationships with five other domains.
To resolve computer names I have used Group Polic to deploy a setting which
includes the dns suffix of all six domains.
When I ping a server name with no suffix, I would expect each domain name to
be appended to e server name and a query sent to the dns server. This was
all working fine last week.
This week, when I ping a server name, only the first three domains in the
list are used and no quer is generated for the remaining three domain
suffices (I confirmed this with a network trace run on the client after
discovering the issue with a dns debugg log on the dns server).
Where should I look to confirm that no changes have been made
(I rechecked all the Group policy objects that were returned by GPRESULT)

Thanks Heaps

Bob
