Thanks ... just to clarify a couple of your suggestions. Also please
bare
with me as I am a novice with the server.
I am ok on how to remove the ip address's from the servers NIC. Are
you saying to put 192.168.2.3 as the prefered DNS on the NIC of the
server?

If this is your domain dns server, yes.

I am also OK on uncheck IPv6.

I am not to familiar with the Forwarders tab but I will read up on
that.

Open the DNS management console with dnsmgmt.msc from the run line. Rightclick the servername, choose the Forwarders tab, enable them and add the ISP's DNS server ip addresses.

I have a Server 2003 OS with DC/DNS/DCHP enabled. All the pc's are
set to obtain all IP's from the DHCP.

ALL pc's are slow to resolve the name ( www.dell.com) 30-45seconds.
The ABRDN-DC resolves the name in 1-2 seconds.

I have a very small network, 5 win XP and a 03 Server DC/DNS/DHCP.

All of the xp machines can talk to each other and connect to the
DC with no problems.

All XP machines use DHCP and are directed to the DC/DNS/DHCP
server. When any of the XP machines try to access the internet it
takes "forever" as the guys say. It does take a while to resolve
the names.

If I go to any of the XP machines and go into the network
properties and add the DNS IP to that network connection the
internet is back to normal speed. If I leave it that way and
logout and then someone else try's to login I get a domain not
available.

Any suggestions on where to start looking for my problem?

Thanks in advance for ideas. I will post ipconfig /all data when I
get to the PC's in the am.
