Meinolf,

Changes made and all is up and running. I also found that the ip's in the
forwarders would not return when ping'd I added 151.196.0.38 and
206.124.65.253 and the network took off like before.

Remove the 151.196.0.38 206.124.65.253 151.196.0.39 206.124.64.253 from

the

servers NIC, and set the servers ip to the preferred DNS on the NIC.

Configure

the Forwarders tab in the DNS management console under the server

properties

with this ip's. Internal use of ISP's DNS server will result in conflicts
like you have. Internal network only internal DNS server for the clients
and also for the servers. Also i recommend to uncheck/disable the IPv6

configuration

on the NIC's.

I have a Server 2003 OS with DC/DNS/DCHP enabled. All the pc's are set
to obtain all IP's from the DHCP.

ALL pc's are slow to resolve the name ( www.dell.com) 30-45seconds.
The ABRDN-DC resolves the name in 1-2 seconds.

I have a very small network, 5 win XP and a 03 Server DC/DNS/DHCP.

All of the xp machines can talk to each other and connect to the DC
with no problems.

All XP machines use DHCP and are directed to the DC/DNS/DHCP server.
When any of the XP machines try to access the internet it takes
"forever" as the guys say. It does take a while to resolve the
names.

If I go to any of the XP machines and go into the network properties
and add the DNS IP to that network connection the internet is back
to normal speed. If I leave it that way and logout and then someone
else try's to login I get a domain not available.

Any suggestions on where to start looking for my problem?

Thanks in advance for ideas. I will post ipconfig /all data when I
get to the PC's in the am.
