All,
We have a growing problem in our networking environment and I can
not find a concert solution for it so I need help. Problem is that I
have a printing device set to DHCP somehow obtaining the servers
static IP Address which is XXX.XXX.XXX.253. How is this possible????
The server event log shows TCP/IP errors stating that there is an IP
conflict on the network with the follow MAC address and the MAC
address is the printer. This should not be happening. My only guess
and this is a long shot is that although the .253 address is excluded
from the DHCP Scope, it is still set in the distribution list and
that how the printer temporally got static .243 addresses. Any help
would be welcome..
DHCP Scope setup with a IP Address range of XXX.1 - XXX.253 for
distribution and then I have an excluded range setup from XXX.196 -
XXX.253
Logical Printer: 1 SHARP Photocopier by FEI

Not really anything to do with DNS and would suggest the m.p.w.s.general or
a networking group for this next time, but just create a DHCP reservation
for your printer(s).
