Read inline please.
In news:eGqUwURXIHA.748@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
dhomas trenn <fake@xxxxxxxxxxxx> typed:
dnsmgmt does not appear to allow you to add records with a blank
alias. And adding a blank alias entry manually to the config file and
restarting the dns server, results in that entry being automatically
removed. I also tried using an @ alias, as some entries in the config
have, but that also gets removed automatically.
Alias (CNAME) records cannot exist on the same node with another record, the
blank (same as parent folder) record should be an A record.
"Note that if a domain name has a CNAME record associated with it, then it
can not have any other record types." http://www.dns.net/dnsrd/rr.html
RFC 1034.3.6.2 clearly states this:
"If a CNAME RR is present at a node, no other data should be
present; this ensures that the data for a canonical name and its aliases
cannot be different."
