Help with DNS / Nameserver setup for web server

Hi guys
I've recently purchased a dedicated server from 1&1, with 2 ip addresses.
The idea being to host all of my websites and have my own nameservers for
easier setup of client websites.
However, I'm nut sure I've set the DNS stuff right, because although you can
ping my 2 nameservers, and you can view them in a web browser (just for
testing), I can't seem to get any domain to connect to them.
Here's the scenario. My main "homing" domain is "musoswire.net" - I've
created 2 subdomains for nameservers called "harmony.musoswire.net" and
"melody.musoswire.net". You can ping/trace both of these and they resolve to
the right IP addresses. You can also visit them in IE and see a page. I've
also setup www.musoswire.net with a page in IIS, which also works fine.
However, I've set "musoswire.co.uk" to these 2 nameservers, and you can't
ping it, you can't see it - it's like it's not there? I've also added a
website for it in IIS, again... nothing.
I'm wondering if my understanding of setting up for multiple domains is
wrong? I've created a dns forward lookup zone called "MusoswireNet" with the
2 nameservers in.
As far as I understand, I don't have to create anything in DNS for each
website, do I? Just add it in IIS and add the correct host headers?!
Thanks for any info :o)
Dan
