Hi kevin, thanks for you support on this Amazon issue. I have attempted to
create the ecx.images-amazon.com Zone as you suggested. I was unsure what
type of Zone to create so I created a Primary Zone. After that I attempted to
creat a CNAME but I get the same error that rcm87 got.
A New record can not be created
An Alias (cname) record can not be added to this DNS name. The DNS
name contains records that are incompatible with the CNAME record.
The dialog box to add a CNAME has three fields and a check box.
The first field is the "Alias name". This one we leave blank?
The second field is "Fully qualified domain name (FQDN)" This field will not
let me change it. is this the field that you want us to enter
"enterecx.images-amazon.com.edgesuite.net" or is it the third field?
The Third field is "Fully qualified domain name (FDQN) for target host:"
This is the field that I put, "enterecx.images-amazon.com.edgesuite.net" and
after that I get the error above.
Can you list the steps that we should follow for Windows 2003 DNS to get
this working - please pretend that I am a DNS dummy, since I am, thanks.

ecx.images-amazon.com. is a CNAME that points to another CNAME,
and it may not be possible to add an A record and get consistent
results because sometimes the A records are dynamic and the IP
addresses can change at any time.

How are you adding the A record?
The way you would add a record for this name is to create a zone
named ecx.images-amazon.com, and create a CNAME, leave the name
field blank, and enterecx.images-amazon.com.edgesuite.net. into
the FQDN field.
I would not create the second CNAME because it would be very easy
for that record to change, in fact it would be just as easy for
any of these to change, but that's why Amazon uses CNAMES, they
have subbed out the web service.
Did you guys ever figure it out? I have the same issue loading Amazon
pages. If I use a Windows 2003 DNS I can't load the images but if I
use a Windows 2000 DNS it works. Any help will be much appreciated.

I have no problem resolving these names with my Win2k3 or Win2k DNS servers.
That said, there isn't anything you can do to fix this mess, after some
testing on ecx.images-amazon.com, I have found that Amazon's hosting
provider ignored RFCs, there are two CNAMES existing on the same node. Most
DNS servers won't even allow this, because a CNAME is not supposed to exist
on the same node as another record. To make things worse, these CNAMES point
to other CNAMES.
You can try running this command on the DNS server.
dnscmd <servername> /Config /EnableEDnsProbes 0
