Kevin once again many thanks for your response.

Just to clarify a few points.

K = Kevin
P = Phil

K) Add update DNS for clients that do not support DDNS updates.
P) I have added 'Clients that do not support updates' option
(basically all options are checked except the dynamically update
option)

What do you mean "basically all options are checked except the dynamically
update"
What is unchecked? Enable DNS updates?
The only thing that should not be selected is Dynamically update DNS A and
PTR records only if requested by the DHCP clients.
In your environment, the clients won't request updates.

K) The DNS tab of the DHCP server an scope properties *** is option
081.
P) I CAN NOT see this option? Is this visible in Windows 2003
Standard SP2 R2?

No, what I'm saying is, the DNS tab IS option 081

K) I would also add Windows 2000 Advanced option 002
P) Is this required for Windows 2003 Standard SP2 R2?

It has nothing to do with Win2k3 R2, it has to do with clients releasing
their lease so DHCP can remove their record and help keep DNS clean of old
records.

P) Do I need to disable XP client option 'Register this connections
addresses in DNS'? If yes I presume by Group Policy?
K) Yes, if you enable DDNS updates on clients that do not support DDNS
updates.
P) Sorry Kevin I do not follow?

May not have been the best wording, If you enable "Update DDNS updates for
clients that do not support DDNS updates" You can disable DDNS updates on
the clients themselves, since DHCP will be doing the updating for them. This
lets DHCP take ownership of the records and allows it to update records the
clients themselves could not update. Such as, a record left by one client
can only be updated by the client that left it. If the clients don't do the
updating DHCP has no problem updating and removing old records, because it
has the rights to do so.
