Re: No updates on Reverse Lookup Zones

Hi,

Thew ipconfig /all command is normal. The forward lookup zone is updated
but the reverse is not. The router is a PIX Firewall.

Thanks,

Charris

Hi,

We run a Win2003 AD. DHCP is performed by a router. The Forward
Lookup Zones are updated but the reverse lookup zones don't. I have
tried different combinations but so far no luck.

This is different, reverse lookup zones are ususally updated before Forward
lookup zones because all PCs need to update the reverse zone is an IP on the
subnet served by the zone, where forward lookup zones require the client to
have a primary or connection DNS suffix that matches the forward zone.

It is usually not advisable to let routers perform DHCP (at least the
inexpensive ones) because they usually cannot assign the correct DNS server
and don't assign a connection DNS suffix.
Post an ipconfig /all from a DHCP client.
