Read inline please.
In news:%23NnKIAG1HHA.5532@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Dan <dameli@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> typed:
I have a Win2003 server which is also running DNS. It has 3 IP
addresses assigned to the same adapter.
This server hosts an intranet site. So, I want users to get to it via
SERVER1. However, DNS has 3 entries for SERVER1, pointing to all 3
addresses.
In the TCP/IP properties, I unchecked "register this connections ip
addresses in DNS", but they keep coming back. I have another DNS
server also. I deleted the 2 unwanted entries on both servers, but
no luck.
Do I just create a couple of entries with different names for those IP
addresses or what?
Thanks
In the DNS Management Console, bring up the DNS server properties ***, on
the Interfaces tab, set DNS to listen only on the IP address you want
registered with the server's name.
You can also use this registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DNS\Parameters
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click String Value to add the
following registry value:
Value name: PublishAddresses
Data type: REG_SZ
Value data: IP address of the server's local network adapter. If you have to
specify more than one IP address, separate the addresses with spaces.
