Re: Strange web site loading/DNS problem

Tracert and ping are of little help, these sites have ICMP disabled, this
could be an MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit or packet size) issue, and many
times it is, but the site's MTU cannot be tested if ICMP is blocked. It is
probably a bad router.

If the site sends out packets of 1500 bytes, and there is a router between
you and the site that supports only 1450 bytes, the larger packets are
dropped, and the site won't load.

I've been having problems with the URL's shop.thehungersite.com,
shop.thebreastcancersite.com, and shop.therainforestsite.com over the
past week.
Sometimes the sites load fine, and other times I get "server not
found". When I can't get to the site, I get the typical traceroute:
unknown host shop.thehungersite.com message (even when using the IP
address of the site), and here is what I get when the site does come
up, when using the IP address:

Traceroute has started ...

I am normally behind my router, but I disconnected and connected
directly to the cable modem... and I get the same results. I have also
flushed my DNS cache.

I have also changed the DNS server info in my router, to use another
DNS server instead of Road Runner's. I am still having problems.

I've also been having problems when sending email to co-workers at
thehungersite.com. Some of the emails make it through, and some don't.
I switched my SMTP server to our company's, and everything is fine
now. Before making that change, I was using Road Runner's SMTP server
of smtp-server.columbus.rr.com.

I have talked to Time Warner/Road Runner and they don't believe the
problem is on their end. They let me talk to a tier 3 person, and he
still couldn't figure it out. He told me to do all of the things that
I've done... and still no luck.

Does anyone have any idea what may be causing the problem???
Can you consistently access shop.thehungersite.com,
shop.thebreastcancersite.com, and/or shop.therainforestsite.com??

Thank you for any help!
