Made a domain name boo boo

I named our Windows 2003 internal domain with the same as our external
Windows domain e.g. bladomain.co.uk
I now realise that this was a mistake and I should have called it
bladomain.local, as when trying to access our company website (not hosted by
us), it won't resolve.
Is there a way I can put some kind of DNS pointer/forwarder for
bladomain.co.uk so that it resolves externally? also we don't use a proxy.
I'm not great with DNS, so easy instructions would be greatly appreciated!!
