Hello all,
We have a old domain controller wich is also the primary DNS server,
the problem is that it not reliable. We want to change the primary
dnd server role to unather domain controller already present. We want
to retire the present W2003 server and put unather in its place. I
want to know if there's any special procedure on how to do it, should
we just copy the settings? how should we phase the process? The fact
is that the old server was installed and configured by someone else
and we do not have enough control over it.
Thanks in advance
If you have your DNS on a Domain Controller, you should have zones stored in
Active Directory, which means that at the very minimum, the zone would exist
on any other DC in the domain with DNS installed.
Win2k3 added the option of being able to replicate the zone to any DNS
server in the forest running on a Win2k3 DC.
