Hello All,

I need some help configuring my DNS server (doing only external DNS)
so AOL accepts e-,mails from users in our domain. We recently
brought our DNS in-house (was using register.com but they do not do
reverse lookups) and configured all the records correctly (i think).
When I look at my SMTP logs for a message sent to an aol.com
recipient I get:

421 DNS:NR
http://postmaster.info.aol.com/errors/421dnsnr.html

and...

DNS Server Response:
No PTR but got:
254.46.145.12.in-addr.arpa. 172800 IN CNAME
254.240/28.46.145.12.in-addr.arpa.

Reverse DNS must be in the form of a fully-qualified domain name.
Reverse DNSes containing in-addr.arpa are not acceptable, as these
are merely placeholders for a valid PTR record. Reverse DNSes
consisting only of IP addresses are also not acceptable, as they do
not correctly establish the relationship between domain and IP
address.

The Reverse lookup has been delegated to dns1.spenser.biz and
dns2.spenser.biz, if these are your name servers, you are missing the zone
it is delegated to.

If you will create a reverse lookup zone named:
240/28.46.145.12.in-addr.arpa. on these servers with the PTRs in that zone,
it will work. (The wizard gives you the option to create the zone by name)

While you are at it, make sure you create the correct NS records in this
zone and go ahead and delete the 46.145.12.in-addr.arpa zone you incorrectly
created.
