Re: W2K3 DC/DNS dual NICs using the incorrect NIC.

Thanks for your input. I believe I have your (Ace's) guide to working with
dual NIC's from another post, unless you have some updates?

Thanks again!

I couldn't agree more with Danny. Multihomed DC/DNs servers are usually
problematic, whether on the same subnet or not. The only way to get around
it if you want it on the same subnet is to Team them. But that depends on
whether the NICs are teamable, and if the switch can handle it. I teamed up
a pair of NICs once and effectively shutdown the whole network when the
switch locked up. It was an older switch.

If you REALLY want to use multiple NICs, you must control which gets
registered and which one you want to use for NetBIOS (dupe issue there as
well). If you really realy want to mess with this, I can offer a complete
step by step to alter the DC/DNS servers default behavior, including
multiple registry changes that must be done on each DC.

But I would highly recommend not to do this and agree with Danny to just
single home the machine and eliminate this huge administrative overhead off
your shoulders.
