Re: Merge multiple reverse lookup zones

Yes they are all AD integrated and getting them to replicate across all DC's isn't really the issue. The issue is merging them all so that we don't have to export the zone to txt file from 2 of them and them manually reenter them into the primary one.

Thanks for the reply..

I'm hoping someone knows of a tool or a way I can merge multiple
reverse lookup zones.

Basically my problem is that my company has a forest consisting of 3
domains, let's say company.com, a.company.com, b.company.com.

Each one of DC's for these domains run windows 2003 server and DNS.
They also all host active directory zones for 192.168.x.x. What I
would like to do is merge the a.company.com and b.company.com reverse
lookup zones up to the company.com zone and only use forwarders on A
and B.

Is it possible to merge zones or can anyone think of another way to
do this?

You will need to check if these zones are stored in AD, and the replication
scope of the zones on all DCs.
If all are replicated to Domain Controllers in the domain, or DNS servers in
the Domain, delete the zone on two of the DCs, then on the third DC, change
the zone to replicate to all DNS servers in the Active Directory forest.
So far as merging the data from one zone to another, that cannot be done.
But, once the zone is replicated to all DNS servers in the Forest, it will
replicate to all Win2k3 DCs with DNS in the forest.
