Re: Upgrades AD and DNS server from 2000 to 2003 on a different Box

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hello,

I create a new DC on a existing domain. Now there is a old DC on a w2k
server and a new DC on a 2003 server. We just want to run one DC on
the domain which is the new 2003 Server and shut down the old one. The
problem when I shut down the old DC, Noone could see each other on the
network. I didn't do anything with transfer FSMO roles to the new DC.
What should I do?

did you create just a new DC with the same domain name?

or did you create a DC for an existing domain?

Hello,

I am trying to upgrades 2000 AD and DSN server to a 2003 server on a
different box. So far, I have a new box and I joined it to the domain,
then I DCPROMO it to be a DNS server as well as a AD. When I shut down
the old server and logon to my domain I don't see any computer on the
domain. I don't know what i am doing wrong. I am new to this stuff
could someone help me with steps.

Thanks,
Kevin
