Re: internal.address.see.rfc1918.mc.net

In news:e1$zw%23Z3GHA.1256@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
C C <someone@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> stated, which I commented on below:
Hello.

Why is our dns server doing this? When I do a "who" in our AIX 5.3
machine all telnet sessions from another subnet show
"internal.address.see.rfc1918.mc.net". I want to see the host name
or, if the host name cannot be resolved, to display the actual IP
address. Thanks in advance.

c:\>tracert 192.168.5.100

Tracing route to internal.address.see.rfc1918.mc.net [192.168.5.100]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms internal.address.see.rfc1918.mc.net
[192.168.5.100]

Trace complete.

c:\>

I'm not familiar wtih BInd, but I assume BIND is running on AIX. But it
doesn't matter anyway because it appears it's trying to give you the FQDN of
that IP address, which it will look in your reverse zone.

Therefore, two questions:
1. Do you have a reverse zone for the 192.168.5.0/24 subnet?
2. If so, is there a PTR (IP to FQDN record) for that particular server you
are running a tracert to?
