SPF record question

Hi guys, just a quick question regarding SPF records.

I have configured an SPF record for my domain because I want to send
mail to my subscribers who are mostly hotmail. so, I would really like
to comply.

I still don't understand the use of SPF, but... if I set up an SPF for
my domain, abc.com. does that mean my email software should always be
sending mail which from is, abc.com? and nothing else? because my
configuration is as such:

From: anydomain@xxxxxxxxxxxx
To: someone@xxxxxxxxxxx
Reply: anydomain@xxxxxxxxxxxx
Return-path: validsender@xxxxxxx <- where valid sender matches spf
domain.

that validsender@xxxxxxx is used during HELO authentication.

is that what it is supposed to be, or am I missing something?
