I currently have a server replacement project, The server to be
replaced currently runs DNS,active directory,exchange,sql,iis.
It is to be completely replaced by a new machine. We have suggested
migration methods for exchange and active directory, sql, iis. But
dns is the problem one, i would like to know if its possible to
migrate all dns data from the old to the new server, and if so how
can this be done.
I will not be doing as yet, as it is required to be documentated for
review.
If you are going to replace the current server, promote the new server into
the existing AD domain. This will create a replica DC in which all accounts
and the current DNS zones stored in Active Directory will be replicated to
the new server. (Yes, it really is that simple)
