same internal & external domain names and exchange

I have 2 DC's each running W2K server, DNS with AD integrated zones, each
points to itself , forwarding enabled to my ISP's NS's. I also have an
Exchange 2K server running DNS with secondary zones.
My predecessor named our network department.com, but never registered the
name.
For several years we've used our ISP to host our site and provide vanity
e-mail under user@xxxxxxxxxxxx
A few years ago we started using Exchange 2K for internal e-mail with
addresses of user@xxxxxxxxxxxx
I've finally been able to register department.com and parentcompany.us
What I want to eventually do is start using our Exchange server to handle
all of our e-mail, either with @department.com or @parentcompany.us
addresses. I've set up the provider's records so that
exchange.department.com points to what will be our Exchange server's
external address and set that as the MX record for both department.com &
parentcompany.us.
Which records do I need to modify or add to my internal DNS in order to make
this works.
Bill
