Re: A/D problems - all DNS related

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

another possibility is to use NETSH from the command line

hello all... i have 1 W2k domain and 1 DC within that domain; multiple
servers but only one DC. my very disgruntling problem revolves around
DNS on the DC i am sure, but i cannot figure out a way to fix it/get
around it/move on. I CANNOT get into the properties of My Network
Places on my DC and I can see that the "genius" before me had set the
DNS entries to static and set them to our ISP. Why any moron would do
this i have not yet found a clue. I've singlehandly taken over this
LAN (and established VPN's all over the country through) roughly 8
months ago and have been trying to fix this A/D spider-web-nonsense the
whole time. This is a 2.5 year old domain, and have I had minimal
problems (ironically) with authentication and logons.until a month ago.
1.) I know my DC DNS settings are wrong: Q:)How can I set DNS/IP Stack
entries through a CMD box since I cannot get to "My Network Places"
properties even in Safe-Mode? 2:)I have endless eventvwr.exe entries
for 1053 and 1054 (non of which give me an "ACCESS DENIED" entry) but
all of them repeat "domain cannot be located". Q:) Is there something,
anything else that I can do to fix this without looking for the DC DNS
entries?
any help is greatly appreciated...
