Re: Please help to solve Event ID 7062

In news:uBiJhVxfGHA.4892@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Hrishikesh Saxena <hrishikesh4_saxena@xxxxxxxxxxx> stated, which I commented
on below:
Good morning all,

I installed Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition on a new HP Proliant ML
350 G4P server. This server has been configured as a primary domain
controller and (192.168.1.2) IP has been assigned. This server is
also hosting DHCP and Print Server. The problem is DNS server is
generating Event ID 7062. To verify DNS server configured properly or
not, I checked with Net Share & Nslookup command. Net Share command
completed successfully but nslookup failed. I have not configured
Internet Service Provider DNS server IP in DNS forwarders zone. TCP
/IP -> DNS server address configuration has been configured with the
above mentioned ip (192.168.1.2). I have gone through many articles
but unable to solve Event ID 7062. Did I miss any step?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help.

How did you determine nslookup fail? Because a "can't find..." message? If
so, that's just saying you don't have a reverse zone created and/or a PTR
record for the DNS server doesn't exist in the reverse zone. You can safely
ignore this error and all queries after that will work. If you don't want to
see that message, create a reverse zone and a PTR for the DNS server's IP
address pointing to it's FQDN.

Using a net share command or any of the "net" commands are NetBIOS/NTLM
based and wouldn't really be related to DNS, unless you used a net use
command and used the FQDN for the computer name instead of the single name
such as:
net use \\computername.domain.com\sharename
instead of
net use \\computername\sharename

The 7062 errors can *usually* be eliminated by configuring a fowarder to
your ISP's DNS under DNS properties, Forwarders Tab (not under the Forward
Lookup Zones).

I hope that helps.

Instead of the website you're using, I suggest to use OEx (Outlook Express
or any other newsreader), and configure a news account, pointing to
news.microsoft.com. This is a direct link to the Microsoft Public
Newsgroups. It is FREE and requires NO ISP's Usenet account. OEx allows you
to easily find, track threads, cross-post, sort by date, poster's name,
