Re: single-label domain name

Hi,

I have unfortunately a single-label domain name for my AD domain.

Due to this I have a couple of issues in DNS, event id 6702.

Based on MS information it seems I could create a DNS zone like
<domain name>.<domain name> http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=914050

As my domain name is called "CIT." does it mean I have to create a
DNS zone (stored in AD) called "cit.cit"?

Based on the article, yes, and if you store the zone in AD it will replicate
to all DNS server as per the replication partition you place the zone in.

Do I need to create this
zone on all DNS servers acting in my AD?
The replication scope will do this, you need only create the zone on one DC
and store it in Active Directory.

I also have issue with dynamic DNS registration for client computers.
From MS I could do several things to fix it
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300684. Is it efficient or would it
be better to do a domain rename as I am running a windows 2003 forest
and domain?

You need to make these registry entries before you can perform a domain
rename. There are entries that need to made to all members of the domain and
to all domain controllers.
