Re: Simple FTP Setup - what's not right

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I did the ipconfig / flushDNS and the nslookup ftp.domianserver.com (which in
my case should be 192.168.200.230)

I received the following response:

Can't find server for address 192.168.200.215: Non-existant domain
Server: Unknown
Address: 192.168.200.215

Name: ftp.domainserver.com
Address: 192.168.200.230

Can you translate this?

I have Windows 2003 Server network environment. Server #1 has DNS
Server #2 has website www.domainname.com setup in IIS. I want to add
an ftp site that is ftp.domainname.com.

On Server #2 (the webserver) I see that there is a default ftp that
pints to the IP for Server #2 and a local path as it's home.

On Server #1 (the DNS Server) I created in Server #1, Forward Looking
Zones
domainserver.com a new host called ftp with FQDN as
ftp.domainserver.com and IP address of Server #2.

When I try to use IE and goto ftp.domainserver.com I receive the
following error message:

"Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the filename
correctly and that you have permission to access this folder.

Details:
The server name or address could not be resolved"

Did I miss a step? Do I need to reboot the server(s)? Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Did you run did you try ipconfig /flushdns to clear the DNS Client cache
first and run
nslookup ftp.domainserver.com to see if it resolved to an IP address?
