If this is Active Directory, all clients and DCs must use only the internal
DNS in TCP/IP properties.
The main problem beyond that, I can guarantee that your external DNS hosting
provider is using a Wildcard record, which when combined with the DNS suffix
search list by the DNS client service and nslookup appends your domain name,
hits the wildcard and resolves. Remove the Wildcard record.
