Yes Kevin, it makes both correct and incorrect queries in packets 18, 191 and
193. I have a summary below.
packet 18 : correctly formed ldap query
packet 19 : correct response with 3 servers listed in DNS
IPC connection made with Server1
other stuff...
SMBs - downloading a policy
SMBs - unbinds, closes the file, logs off, disconnects
packet 187: DNS query for Server1 (this is our time master)
packet 188: DNS response
packet 189: NTP
packet 190: NTP
packet 191:
_ldap._tcp.Default-First-Site-Name._sites.dc._msdcs.Server1.mydomain.org
packet 192: No Such Name
packet 193: _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.Server1.mydomain.org
packet 194: No Such Name
I have logged another machine in a different subnet that is routed to the
same server room and it has the same problem as well as many other machines I
assume. The server name that is inserted in the path seems to change
according to the DC they get.
Any clues?
Thanks
Michael

My eyes must have been giving up on me last night, this is not a valid
query:
_ldap._tcp.Default-First-Site-Name._sites.dc._msdcs.Server1.mydomain.org
The actual query is:(using nslookup)
nslookup -qtype=srv
_ldap._tcp.Default-First-Site-Name._sites.dc._msdcs.mydomain.org
Which will return the LDAP SRV records.
Is it seaching for
_ldap._tcp.Default-First-Site-Name._sites.dc._msdcs.Server1.mydomain.org?
