Re: New Win2003 Server always appears 'offline' to wireless users?

In news:D3DEA810-008C-4BAC-8089-48B9BE435503@xxxxxxxxxxxxx,
kde <kde@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> stated, which I commented on below:
Hi Guys,

I'm getting truly desperate here, I had a single win2000 server on our
network, I have introduced a win2003 server into the network as an
additional member server. I have installed DNS and File Server on
the new win2003 server.

I have configures new logon scripts pointing to the new server
shares, all works fine when connected through a wired Ethernet
connection but for wireless users they are initially connected and
then after a few seconds are disconnected and the server status shows
as 'offline' unavailable for reconnect?

If you click on sync it does resync but only for a few seconds, taking
advice from the other threads, I have made sure that client machines
only show one DNS address (primary DNS server win 2000 box), I have
upgraded the firmware on the access point (3COM OfficeConnect) to the
latest version. I have also added a manual entry into the lmhosts
file to the new win2003 server.

The clients can see the new server and connect to the shares, you can
even browse the folders and open files, if quick enough, but after a
few seconds you get kicked off?!?

If anyone can offer me any more ideas as to what to try I would really
appreciate it, thank you.

Getting kicked off out of a share or the wireless connection? Did this work
for the wireless users prior to the Windows 2003 server installation? When
you get 'kicked off', are you still able to ping the server or even the
gateway by single name, FQDN or IP? I would imagine that if you can't ping
using any of these methods, the wireless session is getting disconnected.
Therefore, I would look at how you have your clients connected thru the
wireless connection.

If it's not the wireless, then I would look at the local security settings
on the member server. Have they been changed or a security template been
applied to it?
