Could someone point me to a non-point-and-click setup doc, for an
Internet-usable DNS, to be installed on W2K3? More specifically - I am
interested in a document based on which I could learn how to shut down
absolutely everything that MS lets one install by default, to the
point of only leaving DNS service running (no AD needs, etc.). I have
attempted - myself - to shutdown some services, but they seem to be
related to things I have no idea why, but which point back to DNS,
one way or another, or purely refuse to stop (e.g. telephony!!).

I would have to dig a doc up, but I can tell you this much, the DHCP Client
Service is a required service (depsite it's name) and tied in together with
the DNS resolver and DNS registration service, whether the machine has a
static IP config or not. There are others that you need to be careful with
as well, such as possibly RPC too.
