Re: DNS Resolution not working

If external queries are not resolved, it has nothing to do with primazry or
any other zone in the DNS.

The external queries are resolved, using forwarders and / or root hints.

How is your DNS server configured to handle external queries?
In the DNS management console right click on your servername and select
properties.
Click on 'Advanced' page and ensure that the box 'Disable Recursion ....' is
UNCHCKED.
Click on Root Hints page, and check that Roots Hints are shown there
properly. If not
you can copy them from your ISP's DNS server.
Click on Forwarders page. See if any forwarder pointing to your ISP's DNS
server is configured or not.
If not, enter forwadrer(s) (IP address(es) of your ISP's DNS server.).
After doing this at command prompt run 'IPCONIFG /FlushDNS'.
Then try.

If still no success run nslookup.
using option d2, query for yahoo.com and post the results here.

Hello All -

I have a Windows 2003 Server that is acting as a domain controller with AD
configured. All of a sudden, out of the blue, the server has stopped
resolving any host names. If I go to yahoo's website using the IP address
of
yahoo, I have no issues. But if I try browing to Yahoo using FQDN, then I
have no luck. Any clients that are using with server as their primary DNS
are
unable to get to the Internet. As far as I can tell, there are no malware
or
spyware programs that got installed on the server. No viruses either. I
deled
and recreated the primary DNS zone on the server. That did not help.

Please pass on any suggestions you think might help resolve the issue.

Thanks!
